The "Dance" date

Remember high school? (Of course you do!) I recall that it was customary at my high school to use a mild form of torture when it came to going to dances. You know what I'm talking about. The Day date, or better put the ALL day, never ending, is it midnight yet? because I have to be home by then, day date. I remember one group of girls that did in fact pick up their dates at four in the morning to be able to "spend more time together." Long slow death, folks. I think there was a certain mathematical formula back in the day whereby you could calculate on a sliding scale just how much you were going to hate your date by the end of the night. (Exception: Bitty, you are a Rockstar, and prom was the funnest dance date ever.) The formula had a lot to do with number of hours spent together and went something like this:
less than or equal to 6 hours = :)
6-9 hours =:\
9+ hours = :(
It was quite tricky, you might remember to stay in the six hour range because there was so much to do, activities, dinner, dance, and ice cream afterwards. And we all were plagued at least once by the insecurity of not knowing if we would EVER have another date again, so it seemed best to make the most out of it. By beating a dead horse.
That said, David and I had a "Dance date" last weekend. Girls choice, of course. The date consisted of Snowshoeing, and going dancing at our ward party where this very cute couple taught ballroom dancing lessons. To stay within the 6 hour happy face margin, we had to cut dinner out of the date. (Actually we were running late and were on the activities committee for our ward, and didn't get dinner made before we had to rush over for dancing. ) We learned a really fun west coast swing routine, a line dance and some waltzing patterns. They also taught the kids the Chicken Dance, which McKinley LOVED.
I only have pictures of snowshoeing. We took our camera for dancing and forgot to take any pictures. What a fun Dance date! I hope David asks me for the next one ! HaHaHa! He is Sooo hot!
David is wearing a sweatshirt for pants in this picture because his jeans got soaked from the snow flipping up onto the back of his pants when he was having a race with Scooby. I laughed so hard about this that I had to post it.

If anyone wants to borrow our snowshoes give us a call. We have three sets, and it's pretty fun to get out and hike around in the snow. Also if anyone wants to go dancing with us we are going again on the 28th at four o clock. We had so much fun, we want to do it again!

Mckinley learns something new

Look at this face. Such a little Angel! Through and through. Mckinley has been working on painting with watercolors lately and on this particular day, she decided that watercolors make good make up. And Nail polish. I wonder if I look this way to her when I have my make up on?
Anyway, this is not the new thing that she has learned. The new thing of late is for her to use the naughty word "Dammit." A lot too. What is it about kids that when they figure out there is something that they aren't supposed to do, it's like prime incentive to do it more? And the funny part is that when she says it, she doesn't have an angry tone, and she doesn't yell it, she just calmly and quietly says it. And where did she learn this word? I don't actually use this one very often when I'm not with drunken disorderly patients. Just kidding. But really, we do try not to swear when Mckinley is listening because she picks up EVERYTHING.
Does anyone have any ideas for how to rectify this problem? She keeps having to put her nose on the fridge (our favorite method of discipline.) for this offense. However, judging by how often her little nose is on the fridge these days, it doesn't seem to be helping.

Something I made!

I made these Cuff links for David for Valentines Day. You can hardly tell but they are heart shaped buttons. This is so he can wear my heart on his sleeve. (You didn't think I was that cheesy did you! Newsflash! haha) I love dress shirts with cuff links and this shirt was one of the things I gave to David for my wedding gift to him. So when I saw this idea in Martha Stewart, I had to steal it, and make him a set.
If his Sleeves look THIS good, just imagine what the rest of him looked like today!

This Valentines, plant a surprize kiss on someone you love!

We actually took McKinley to the Children's Jubilee at the Heritage Center. This was a short concert that I was playing in. The whole event was planned for children and was meant to introduce fine arts and Symphonic music to kids. This was McKinley's first concert and she was pretty excited to be doing such a "grown up, ladylike," thing. Halfway through the last Piece, she fell asleep and was snoring in her seat. She didn't even wake up when the lights came up and everyone was clapping.
After the Concert, we went home and started getting McKinleys valentines ready and making dinner. (French Onion Soup and Monte Cristo sandwiches. Ummm!)
After dinner, we got McKinley dressed in a warm Bunny Jammie, and went out to deliver valentines. At first she was not really interested and just wanted to sit in the car while I ran the valentines to the door, knocked and ran to the getaway car. But once she caught on to how much fun it was,(like after we ran a stop sign in our haste to avoid being caught by Brandon and Amanda.) she was excited to be in on it. (We even put our hands the circle and yelled "Go Team!" before we did every delivery. Hahaha!) We let her do one by herself at Aunt Moonies, and it was so funny to see her running in her jammie back to the car, laughing the whole way. (Thanks Todd, for not opening the door and spoiling her fun. )We will have to learn how to be a little more discreet for next year.
Valentines is such a fun Holiday for me. And Thank you David for the Chocolate Raspberries, and the Two sets of Flowers. (Dad, I know that you were behind one of them. The secret is out. Thanks Mom for the cute valentines gifts!) And Thank you to JJ and Valeena for scaring the freaking crap out of us with the "cop knock." That might come back to haunt you so wait for it. j/k. We thought about coming out there and doorbell ditching you again, but we are scared of retalliation. Haha. You really have to practice the cop knock. Thanks for the cookies!

Four Years Ago Today

Today, by itself was not really a dream come true. I woke up way too early, (never a good thing for me.) and made it to work by six am. (Who says miracles have ceased?) The worst part was not being able to see my sweetie on our Anniversary.
However, even a lonely day doesn't dull my memories of exactly four years ago today when my biggest dream came true. Marrying the love of my life forever was the best thing I ever did. I thought I couldn't fall more in Love than I was then, but the past four years have proved to me that Love has so many countless dimensions and levels. I love being married! I love sharing my life with you, David Holmgren. You are perfect to me in every way. Thank you for being the wonderful husband and daddy you are. How did I get you?
SO ..Since we are so IN LOVE, I have composed a poem for you. (For any readers with young children present, don't let them read this, it gets pretty graphic..... Well, you've been warned.)

Roses are Red
Violets are Blue
Meet me at our house
And I'll kiss you.

I know that it's bad,
and I shouldn't keep scores,
But.....
Nobody's muscles
are as big as yours

If I had my way
And if wishes were fishes,
I'd wish you were home
So we could "do dishes."

(the dishes part is why this poem is rated for adult audiences only.)

I wanted to post some pictures of our wedding day, but our scanner is not working .My debonnaire, Mr. fix It Beau is going to take care of that when he gets home tomorrow. So stay tuned.
