A new creation!

I'm not doing so well with my resolution to do a weekly blog post. For quite a while I have been trying to complete a sewing project each month. This dress was actually a pattern for a shirt that I lengthened into a dress. It was supposed to be my December project but I just finished it last week and feel pretty good about the end result.

Festive Fun!!!

I have been doing a terrible job of updating my blog! This time of year gets to be so crazy. But with all of the craziness comes a lot of fun too. This year we made gingerbread houses from a little kit that Mckinley wanted for her birthday. Mckinley and I made gingerbread houses and Dolly and Romee ate everything they could get their hands on.
We have also been receiving some visits from our Elf on the Shelf Jingles who has surprised the kids with turning the milk Pink, mountain climbing the stairs and reading stories to Baby Jesus because Mary was missing from the nativity scene. There's still a lot of fun left in this year,(and lots if gifts to make too.)

Halloween spooks

This year we didn't do much preparation with costumes but had a lot of fun putting together things that we had to make some pretty fun costumes. Thanks to Jj and Valeena for letting me borrow the bride of Frankenstein costume!! Dolce was a Ballerina, McKinley was a silly witch and Rome was a pumpkin. David had to work and didn't get to dress up. We enjoyed trick or treating around the neighborhood and seeing the spooky trick or treaters who visited our house this year. Happy Halloween!

Haunted Pumpkin Patch Dinner

Menu

Pumpkin Brain Stew
Dying pumpkin patch greens
Swamp thing babies(Brussels Sprouts)
Swamp water (root beer floats)
Transylvanian poison apples

This years haunted dinner was a success! I did mean to have it outside in our own haunted pumpkin patch backyard but didn't get a table set up outside and so it was an indoor haunted pumpkin patch. Dolce and Rome were quite confused as to why we were eating dinner by candle light and listening to spooky sounds of the night. But it didn't take them long to join in the fun.

Staheli Farm

One of our favorite traditions each year is to go to Staheli Farm and see the animals and get lost in the corn maze. Each year we bring a picnic and take time to play games, jump on the giant trampoline and wander through the corn. This year we discovered how much fun the pumpkin patch was too. I don't think Mckinley will ever let us get away with not going to the farm and in fact all of the kids cried when we were leaving(but were asleep in the car before we made it home.) Happy Fall!

A Gift For Dolce

I almost can't contain my excitement to give Dolce this little birthday gift I've made for her. I made these little owls along with the fun cafe that they run. The pattern came with a story about how the owls hypnotize their patrons into ordering more hazelnut muffins with yak butter and lemongrass tea. I'm happy with how it turned out and I know Dolce will love playing with it. The restaurant is made from a 3 ring binder and the idea is to create a little village for all of the animals to play in. I'm also making a hedgehog that runs a hair salon and a squirrel who rides a tiny skateboard to collect walnuts.
