Girls camp

This year I was the camp director for girls camp. This was a great experience for me. I always looked forward to camp each year as I was growing up and it was a very different opportunity to be able to be in charge of planning this years camp for the girls in our ward. The theme this year was daughters of light and our ward value color was white which is the color for faith. Our daughter of light that we were supposed to try to focus on was Sariah. We had a lot of fun as well as some faith building activities like our sources of light night walk where the girls held to a string and climbed a steep mountain hill without lights. The girls were climbing towards lights on the hill that stood for prayer, scriptures, patriarchal blessings, the the temple, and at the top of the hill where the brightest light was, was Christ. This seemed to be a powerful faith building experience for the girls.(and me)
On the last night of camp after we shared testimonies, we gave the girls a surprise we had planned for them. They were given an envelope and asked to find a quiet place to read what was inside. Of course when they saw that the envelopes contained a letter to them from each of their parents we started to hear sweet little sniffles from the girls. The girls were so touched by the messages from home.
I loved the opportunity to get to know these girls. They are each so unique and beautiful and strong. They were kind to each other and their personalities are each so uplifting. It's very easy to say that I love them.
