A New Look!

After about a year of long hair, I wanted a change and decided to cut my hair. What do you think?

my June Projects

I have been sewing a bit here and there. My goal has been to learn to sew two new things each month. This month I made this pair of shorts. Quite a challenge for me. What I mean by that is that there was an excessive amount of unpicking. But I did it and learned some new things. I also made these little Ice Cream cones. They are going to go in Mckinley's room along with some cute toy cakes I made last month. I will have to try to remember to post some pictures of them.

J is for Jeep Safari!

We went on a "jeep safari" the other day. We even made binoculars out of toilet paper rolls and yarn! The rest of the story is that we forgot to bring the homemade binoculars with us on the jeep safari...which Mckinley was not so pleased about. But we had fun anyway. We weren't sure that the girls were going to like this very much and we were very surprised that Mckinley loved it so much. Dolce slept through most of it. At the top of the trail Mckinley wanted to get out and have her picture taken holding this stick on top of her head. Not sure why, but it ended up being a very cute picture.

S is for Swimming

We went swimming last week for the first time this summer. It was the day after Mckinley got her cast off and that was what she was probably most excited for in getting the cast off. We went with Lizzie and Sophie and Sadie. When I was taking the picture of Mckinley and Sadie, Sade told Mckinley to make a mad face. It was funny because I couldn't get a picture of them both making a mad face at the same time. Funny girls. Don't forget to notice Mckinley and Dolce's matching swimsuits. Yup, I'm that kinda mom. Sorry kids!

M for Manti Pageant

We went to the Manti Pageant, or Mormon Miracle Pageant if you prefer. We went on opening night which we found is really a great night to go because it wasn't quite as busy as the other days normally are. We also ate the famous Turkey Steak Dinner and got the top secret Turkey marinade recipe. My mom gave Dolce a taste of mashed potatoes and gravy and after that Dolce was extremely offended if every bite was not going to her mouth. This was really a lot of fun, especially because David had not seen the Manti Pageant since he was a little kid. Mckinley was very enchanted with the whole thing. I think it made some of the church history stories more understandable for her. When she first saw the temple she thought it was a castle and said "Oh No! I forgot my crown." Dolce had a nice little nap at the beginning and then woke up and was so nice for the rest of it. We went with my parents and Johnny and we all had a really fun time.

Umbrellas in the Rain!

A very cute friend I know is doing something called Alphabet summer with her kids this summer. You pick a fun activity for each letter of the alphabet. We decided to do it along with her. We aren't going in order, but this was Umbrellas in the Rain for the letter U.

Outdoor movie night

We did an outdoor movie night at my parents house the other night. It was so much fun. We had popcorn, and rootbeer floats, homemade cookies and tootsie rolls. It was fun to spread blankets out on the grass and snuggle up for the movie. Dolce fell asleep and Mckinley was having so much fun playing that she didn't pay much attention to the movie but, My Brother Johnny and My Mom watched Dial M for Murder with us. It's an Alfred Hitchcock mystery that was so fun to watch. There is even an intermission on the show. Haha! (And I don't know why I always look like a meth mom in all my pictures, but my kid's sure look cute!) We can't wait for the next outdoor movie. We love summer!

Catching up with Family

Last weekend we enjoyed a fun couple of days catching up with family members we hadn't seen in a while. We went up for Jamison's baptism and while we were there, we also celebrated Caleb's 1st birthday, and had a great family dinner on Sunday. I went shopping with my sister Sunni, who I had not seen since December. Shawn came shopping with us too! We had so much fun catching up with everyone. It seems like Salt Lake has our hearts as we have so many family members there, and friends who feel like family. It was also fun to catch up with Allen and Melissa while eating Gioza, and we had the pleasure of meeting Murph's "mystery" fiance, Jessica. We crammed so much fun into such a short time, we can't wait to visit again. Even got some Strawberry Shortcake! I am quite dissatisfied with my camera documentation of the trip. I was hoping to come home with more pictures. I do have some good ones, but I forgot to take out the camera for most of the trip.
